OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.—Despite rallying to get within one run, Texas Baseball (37-22) dropped Sunday’s Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship game, 6-5, to Oklahoma State (30-25). Senior Kacy Clemens and freshman David Hamilton each earned spots on the All-Tournament team for their efforts throughout the week.

The Longhorns got on the board first in the ballgame, plating a pair with two outs in the opening frame. Travis Jones was hit with a pitch and proceeded to steal second. Kacy Clemens then singled him home to give the Longhorns a 1-0 lead. Austin Todd followed with a base hit of his own before Bret Boswell singled to right to make it 2-0.

Oklahoma State got one back in the top of the third off right-hander Morgan Cooper but Texas responded in the bottom half of the inning with a run of its own, this time thanks to a Kody Clemens RBI single.

Up 3-1, however, the Longhorns couldn’t hold the lead. In the fourth, Oklahoma State put up a three-spot of Connor Mayes and Chase Shugart and Texas fell behind 4-3.

The Cowboys tacked on a run each in the sixth and seventh innings to make it a 6-3 game before the Longhorns rallied.

In the bottom of the seventh, Kacy Clemens opened with a single—his third hit of the day—before Boswell added a one-out single. Zane Gurwitz then hit a pinch-hit single to score Clemens and put runners on the corners. With two outs, Ryan Reynolds singled through the right side to score Boswell and pull the Longhorns to within one.

That would be all the offense Texas could muster on the afternoon and the Longhorns fell, 6-5.

Kacy Clemens, who hit .409 with two homers and six RBI, was named the All-Tournament team first baseman while Hamilton, who finished with a .319 average and three doubles on the week, was named shortstop on the All-Tournament team.
