Gilroy: Man suspected of killing mother with baseball bat – The Mercury News

GILROY — A 39-year-old Gilroy man accused of killing his mother with a baseball bat on Christmas Day was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

Matthew Salewske, 39, was arrested Sunday morning after sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on the 2000 block of Roop Road in unincorporated Gilroy to a report of a domestic disturbance. The person who called 911 also reported that Salewske attacked his mother with a baseball bat. When deputies arrived, they located Claudia Salewske, 70, with significant head trauma.

Salewske was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries a few hours later.

A sheriff’s official said Matthew Saleske was arrested after interviews with multiple parties and physical evidence.

The homicide investigation is on-going.
