Stephen Colbert, other celebs get their own baseball cards – Chicago Tribune

If Donny Franks can throw a hot dog 60 feet to Kyle Schwarber, if Donny Franks can run the bases at Wrigley Field with a big metal vendor box strapped to his back, then Donny Franks can have his own baseball card.

Late-night host Stephen Colbert appears as his hot-dog-hawking alter ego as part of several celebrity “first-pitch” baseball cards released by Topps with Series 1 sets, the company announced Wednesday.

Seven of the cards feature actors and musicians who threw out ceremonial first pitches for the Cubs last season: Including Colbert, they are Brett Eldredge, Joan Jett, Jon Lovitz, Joe Mantegna, Bob Odenkirk and Jeremy Piven. Actor Lou Ferrigno and singer Chris Lane, who performed first-pitch duties for the White Sox, also have cards.

It’s the third season Topps has made cards of famous first-pitchers.
