Vol State snags up two baseball players from Dickson County area – The Tennessean
A couple of months from now, Dickson Countyâs Jack Sensing and Creek Woodâs Zeke Lecomte will face each other on the diamond.
After that happens, however, theyâll be teammates.
The two standout players for their respective ball clubs signed with Vol State Community College Wednesday afternoon. Theyâll join Creek Woodâs Chase Haley next fall with the Pioneers, who signed a couple of weeks ago.
âIt makes your heart smile when youâve got guys like Chase and Zeke that work as hard as they work. Theyâre so deserving of this, because theyâve put everything theyâve had into this for so many years. Thereâs not really a lot of words you can say. It makes you happy and feel good,â said Creek Wood baseball coach Chris Clapper.
âIâm very excited for Jack and his family,â said Dickson County coach Rodney Parker.
âHe gets to chase the dream of advancing his baseball career. Heâs a hard-working student, a good person and a good ball player. You put all of those together, and I think Vol State is going to get a good package.â
Both players committed to the Pioneers a couple of days apart. Lecomte announced his intentions on Twitter Nov. 22, while Sensing also announced it on Twitter four days prior.
âItâs a great school and a great campus. I know that I can continue my education there. I know coach (Ryan) Hunt will help me have a good future, and possibly move up in the baseball world. I just think itâs the best place for me,â said Lecomte.
Sensing was familiar with the campus after playing there last summer, and really bought into what the Pioneers were doing as a program.
âI played there last summer, and coach Hunt has a really promising program. Iâm excited to play for him.â
The two, along with Haley, discussed amongst each other about playing with the Pioneers and how much they liked their experiences visiting there.
âIâve talked to both those guys, and some others Iâve met through baseball,â said Lecomte.
âThey all said itâs a great school, and I believe them. I saw it for myself, and am really excited.â
Sensing echoed those statements, and said heâs excited about the possibility of playing together.
âWe talked about living together, and working out together. Itâs exciting to talk about our futures.â
