Rutgers Women’s Soccer to Compete in NCAA Tournament Semifinals

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The second-seeded Rutgers women’s soccer team advances to the 2015 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament College Cup for the first time in program history.
After playing top-seeded Virginia to a 0-0 double-overtime draw, the Scarlet Knights advance with a 7-6 advantage through nine rounds of penalty kicks. Junior Tori Prager made the game-winning shootout attempt.
The Scarlet Knights held Virginia to nine shots in regulation, and three in overtime. Rutgers tallied six shots in the match, and goalkeeper Casey Murphy recorded two saves.
Rutgers will play the winner of Saturday’s No. 1 Penn State-No. 2 West Virginia match in the semifinals.
The NCAA Tournament semifinals are slated for Friday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. ET., while the championship match is set for Sunday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. All matches will be televised on ESPNU.
