Source: Police investigating incident involving Patrick Kane, female – WKBW-TV

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) – Sources in Hamburg tell 7 Eyewitness News that police are investigating an alleged incident involving Chicago Blackhawks player and South Buffalo native Patrick Kane and a woman that may have started at a bar in Evans.

A manager at Mickey Rat’s Beach Club in Evans tells 7 Eyewitness News that Hamburg Police called the bar to see if Patrick Kane was there this past Saturday.  The Manager said as best he remembered that he did not see Kane.

7 Eyewitness News also called the Erie County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit, which handles sexual offenses, but employees said they could not comment.

The Buffalo News was the first to report an investigation is underway Thursday morning. But Hamburg Police Chief Gregory Wickett has told 7 Eyewitness News he “can’t confirm or deny” an investigation is underway.

When asked about the situation, a NHL spokesperson responded that, “We are aware and following developments.”

The Chicago Blackhawks released a statement saying, “We are aware of the matter and are in the process of fathering information. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

At this point, no charges have been filed against Kane.

Neighbors tell 7 Eyewitness News that detectives were seen at Kane’s home on Sunday. They say the officers shimmied their way through the gates and went inside.

When 7 Eyewitness News rang the doorbell at the gate, there was no answer. A message read “Resident Busy” and then a prompt came up to leave a voicemail.

There had been rumors that Kane was going to bring the Stanley Cup to Buffalo this weekend, though no itinerary has been released. But the manager at SkyBar told 7 Eyewitness News the Stanley Cup is scheduled to be there for a private party on Saturday.

Patrick Kane has helped lead the Blackhawks to Stanley Cup wins in 2010, 2013 and last year. But it wasn’t without some controversy.

In August 2009, Kane was arrested in Buffalo for assaulting a taxi driver. He later pleaded guilty to minor charges of disorderly conduct and was granted a conditional discharge.

In 2012 on Cinco de Mayo weekend, pictures of Kane drinking and passed out were sent out on social media.

And earlier this year, at the Blackhawks Championship rally in Chicago, Kane said, “I know you’ve said I’ve been growing up, but watch out for me next week.”
